Matteshot

Every screenshot, a matte shot.

For people who share screenshots all day and want them finished before they paste

Press PrtScn, click a window or drag a region, then choose from six finished mattes or keep the raw capture. A full-resolution PNG lands on the clipboard. Recording, scrolling capture, offline OCR, and a focused editor are there when the quick flow needs more.

01 / What it does

Fast when it should be.
Deep when it needs to be.

01

PrtScn, rebuilt

Freeze every monitor, click a whole window, grab a screen, or drag a region across displays. The quick flow goes from capture to clipboard in a few seconds.

02

Six finished mattes

Adaptive, Deep, Aurora, Slate, Paper, and Pop are generated from the capture itself. A seventh None option keeps the raw image when styling is not the point.

03

A real editor, on demand

Reframe, change padding and aspect ratio, annotate, pixelate sensitive areas, select OCR text, and export at a deliberate size without putting an editor in the default path.

04

Screen recording

Record a window or region to H.264 MP4 with optional system or microphone audio, trim on stop, add timed annotations, and optionally create a share-sized GIF.

05

Scrolling capture

Stitch long pages from browsers, editors, and terminals into one tall image by measuring the content movement instead of assuming every app scrolls the same way.

06

Private by construction

Capture, styling, recording, OCR, and file output stay on the PC. Matteshot has no account, upload service, or cloud workspace.

02 / How it works

Three seconds.
Start to paste.

  1. 01

    Press PrtScn

Every display freezes. Hover a window, choose a full screen, or drag the exact region you need.

  2. 02

    Pick the finish

Choose a matte with the mouse or number keys. Open the editor only when the capture needs annotation, redaction, or reframing.

  3. 03

    Paste or save

The finished PNG is copied as an image, PNG payload, and file so it works in chat, documents, issue trackers, and Explorer.

04 / Under the hood

Small app.
Sharp output.

01

Rust and Win32

A native tray app without Electron or a bundled UI runtime, built around Windows.Graphics.Capture and a direct Windows interface.

02

Media Foundation recording

H.264 video, AAC audio, trimming, and verified finalization use Windows media APIs rather than a web recording layer.

03

Output that survives sharing

Mattes and annotations render together at export scale, with 1x, 2x, and 3x quality plus practical output-size caps for chat, email, and social posts.

05 / Pricing

Clear terms.
No fog.

Full trial 14 days

Every capture, recording, scrolling, OCR, and editing feature. No card required.

Personal license $19 once

One-time purchase. No subscription, with an offline-capable license after activation.
